Biography

Jaana Ruotsalainen, born in 1976, is a private entrepreneur and physiotherapist with a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy, earned in 2013. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Jyväskylä, where her research focuses on the innovative use of music and rhythm in neurological rehabilitation. Jaana unique approach incorporates patients’ own voices as therapeutic tools to support long-term recovery. Her holistic therapy method emphasizes enhancing patients’ sense of self and self-esteem through engaging and motivating elements such as rhythm, music, and singing. Through her published work, she has made significant contributions to understanding the impact of music on motor, cognitive, and emotional functions, thereby advancing the field of neurological rehabilitation.
